2012 USA Gymnastics OPEN CHAMPIONSHIPS at ESPN Wide World of Sports/Disney (Orlando, Florida)
USA Gymnastics is hosting the second annual nationwide invitational for Women’s Levels 4-8 and Xcel.  New this year, there will be a Level 8 Team Event for the finale of the Open Championships called USA Gymnastics Level 8 National Team Challenge.  The competition will be held on Sunday, June 3, 2012.  Each region will bring 8 gymnasts.  5 scores will count for team score.  The format of the meet is modified capital cup..
The criteria for Region 5 is as follows:

 

  1. Region 5 will invite the top 8 all-around gymnasts (regardless of the age group) from the 2012 Level 8 Regional Championships to participate.
  2. If one or more of the top 8 all-around gymnasts decline, the invitation would be offered to the next athlete with the next highest all-around score
  3. Region 5 will pay for each gymnast’s registration fee into the competition.
  4. Each gymnasts will receive a Region 5 leotard which is to be worn during competition.
  5. Each gymnast’s coach(es) will receive a Region 5 t-shirt to wear during the competition.  If there is a training day, the designated coach(es) will receive a second t-shirt.
  6. Each athlete will be responsible for their own transportation and lodging.

The following motion was presented and passed by the Region 5 Board on February 7, 2012

In supporting the Level 8 Region 5 Team to the Open National Championships in Orlando, FL, the Regional Committee will offer benefits to the gymnasts and their coaches in the following manner:

  1. Region 5 will pay for each gymnast’s registration fee into the competition.
  2. Each gymnast will receive a Region 5 leotard which is to be worn during competition.

Pricing and information

Message from Bobbi Montanari and Cardiac Rescue Systems:

“…please let everyone know about the fantastic pricing we’re offering [on AED's.] The gyms in Illinois and Indiana should also be made aware that AED’s have been mandated in their States for a while. It was amazing at the national and region 5 conference how many people we talked with from Illinois and Indiana that didn’t know they are required.

I have attached the price sheet and spec sheet for the Heartsine AED… Thanks again for doing your part in raising awareness about these life saving devices.”
