State Meets

MI USA Gymnastics Selection Criteria for State Meet Assignments

The following criteria will be considered for state meet assignments:

  • Must be a member in good standing with USA Gymnastic and NAWGJ
  • Judge’s ratings must be current and correct for assigned level(s)
  • Complete Judges PIF
  • CPE credits are up to date and turned in on time. In addition, participation in the MI Judges Clinic or the State Coaches Conference & Clinic is recommended.
  • Years of experience
  • Judges awarded a regional or national meet will be given priority
  • To be considered for a Regional or National assignment, judges must participate in a Region 5 Training camp in a leadership position.

The MI NAWGJ will submit a list of recommended judging panels for each state meet to the SAC.

The SAC will approve or reject the considering the above criteria. If the SAC rejects a judging panel or members of a judging panel, the NAWGJ will then resubmit a recommendation for approval.

Once all judging panels are approved, the SACC will forward the information to the MI NAWGJ, the RTC and the RCC.

The SAC will also pre-approve judges for state meets. In the event that an assigned judge needs to be removed from a panel, the SJD will fill that position with a judge from the pre-approved list.

If the SAC does not accept a lower level judging panel or judge from a panel, the NAWGJ will be allowed to replace that judge from a higher level state meet panel that the SAC has already approved.
